Parrot MKI9200 (bluetooth and ipod solution) - Install

I`m looking at getting the mki9100 as i`d wantt he display out of sight.

Ive been in formed that this cable with unika would mean no cutting

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181313602581

The sella says itll be pre configured and i wouldnt need any other adapters, coul some one confirm this is the case

thanks
Carl

Sorry I can't confirm if that's the correct UNIKA cable but I'm puzzled why you would want the display out of sight ? The display which is excellent shows tel calls, track info etc. so is very useful AND the actual display pod easily "dismounts" from it's connection mount so you can store it a neat little wallet out of sight / in your pocket if you don't want it on display when you leave the car.

Or do you have Nav and hope to use that as display - not sure if that can be done with Parrot either.

My understanding is that the UNKIA cable is to allow the OEM MFSW to operate and I can confirm if installed correctly - I had it done professionally - all the MFSW functions do work in addition to the neat stick on dash controller.

if i could use the sat nav screen that would be perfect but unfortunately ive not seen any thing to allow that, apart from buying all the bits and fitting the OEM one, price wise it would cost a bit more and its more of a pain to install.

I`ll have the intravee for ipod, as this uses the screen to show track info.

I would hopefully mount the screen like on here

I`m only wanting the small screen version so should fit allot neater i hope, i dont use phone allot in car, but for the odd time i do, id miss having it.

Sorry guys finding this all a bit confusing. I have an 03 e85 that has had an aux cable fitted under the heater controls. Pretty sure I have the ten speaker system without carver.

Will the kit from justcarkits do the job?

Cheers for getting back to me.

Well that's not ideal.

Which cable do I need then? And will I lose my aux connection, not that I'm worried.

Just trying to figure out what I need to connect up the Parrot to my Z4, my head unit has the flat pins and it is the Carver DSP system (with Sat Nav). Which harness would I need to buy? I called up JustCarKits (who sell the Audio2Car one mentioned earlier in the thread) and the guys said he doesn't have any wiring harnesses that work with the Carver system.

And in terms of wiring the line out from the Parrot harness, is the best way to solder two female RCA connectors onto the black/red and brown/white cables from the Parrot harness and use a 3.5mm to RCA cable to connect to the AUX input on my head unit for when I want to use it for music?

Any advice appreciated, thanks!

Just to follow up on my previous post, almost every eBay seller of Parrot to Z4 wiring harnesses say it will not work with the Carver/DSP system.

I did have a positive response from Complexaudiosystems as mentioned earlier who recommended the MC0441 lead, but they said they do not offer a solution to connect to the aux to bypass the Parrot's internal amp for music (which seems contrary to the advice earlier in the thread, which also mentioned the XC0451 and MC9905 cables are needed).

So kinda confused now :( Do I take a gamble and order the Justcarkits cable (https://www.justcarkits.co.uk/acatalog/84099AUX.html) or the MC0441?

Whats that NAV software version? it looks like 3D perspective mode?
Not sure what you're asking Chris? 3D perspective mode can be enabled in the satnav through the 'hidden' menu if you don't have it. Not sure if you need the latest firmware in the satnav but it's easy to load if you do

'Hidden' menu??! I LOVE hidden menus! lol
Tell me more...how to access etc.
I'll start digging around myself but would be helpful if you could advise here too.
Google maps ftw, but it's always good to have a backup device.

Providing you have the MK4 satnav:

This is the same process I think, MK4 but in a different BMW:

Nice one! ta. Going to try this when battery is hooked back up. Unplugged sensors all over the place in engine bay atm, replacing throttle body and cam/crank posn sensors to fix a rough idle problem....grrr...

I have the Carver DSP in mine, and fitted a Parrot using an SOT lead - It works PERFECTLY, and as the DSP sends line in level signals to the amp, the bluetooth streaming utilises the Carver amp and not the Parrot one, and it sounds AWESOME.

No need for a complicated cable, I paid less than £10 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SOT-976-BMW-Z4-2005-Bluetooth-Parrot-SOT-Lead-T-Harness-ISO-Adaptor-/261232167739?hash=item3cd2a68b3b:g:NMwAAMXQfvlSk4L-

That's weird, I did email that seller previously and they said it wasn't compatible with my car! I guess at £9 it's worth a gamble though.

Well I finally got round to buying the SOT lead mentioned, but where does the red (ignition/switched 12v) cable go - do I need to connect to the fuse box or tap in to some other cable?

Hi,

Did you finish your installation in the end?

I also have the Carver DSP /Nav, and the basic 3000 Parrot kit that's currently has connection issues, and the call volume is so low I can't hear anything.
I want to change it for a new kit that includes BT streaming, allows SIRI and uses the steering wheel controls.

Cheers

Dan

I have now bought a parrot mki9200, as per the OP. Still struggling with the right wiring to purchase.

Has anyone else managed to get their kit working properly on a car with Pro Nav and Pro Carver DSP HiFi?

I have this setup in my car had it installed by a "specialist" . It works up to a point but cannot use the usb input if using the nav as the instructions cause the volume of the music to cut out but get no sound from the nav, also I had to downgrade my firmware to delete speed camera warnings as the warning caused the usb input volume to increase. I think that there may not be way to get it to work 100%
