Hi all, I’m new to this forum. I’ve just purchased a G29 and it has the wireless charging pad inside the tray. The charging light is constantly orange, I’m thinking because of Covid and the shortage of semi conductors the wireless charger option was removed. Is there any way to get this operational again. Thank you in advance for any help. Joe

I am an enthusiastic user of that pretty useless gadget, the wireless charger. It will go blue when charging and then orange when too hot which is basically the default setting....... If I use google maps and spotify, which I do all the time, it goes orange in about 20 minutes. After the phone has got very hot which was about 10 minutes earlier.
At best it is a trickle charger for your phone and only really any good when not using any apps. I see it as an emergency standby for when you forget the cable.

Have you tried your phone on another wireless charger? Or another wireless charging phone in the car?
Mine works (blue) but the phone gets pretty hot, showing a "phone overheating" message on the AA screen. I just replaced my battery, thinking it was an old battery problem, but it's definitely the car charger.
My phone doesn't get as hot on my desk wireless charger, so I wonder what the issue is with the car charger?

Check that the option is turned on in the idrive setting.
I find all wireless charging problematic if using maps and music or a call at the same time.
What year is your car and I’ll tell you if it has wireless charging, but basically if the Matt is fixed and can’t be removed then you have it. Also if you have the digital key then you have it.
I ended up lifting the Matt off and getting a wireless charging mat off Amazon

Hi my z4 is a 2021, it has the fixed wireless charger and the digital key. The digital key isn’t activated, the subscription only lasted 12 months I believe.
Even though it has the above Ithought because of the chip supply issue during Covid the wireless charger was deleted from the spec, similar to Audi in 2021/2022.
When I put my iPhone 15 onto the wireless charger the blue light stays on.
