Alpina Market Watch

I viewed and test drove the Romans car (FJ05NDV). The car was stored outside, poorly presented and the EML was on. The salesman didn't seem remotely interested in selling the car which has been on their inventory for over a year. Strange experience.

This is the Helrot Red Non-Lux Alpina Rodaster (#257)currently live with Collecting Cars.
It does look very nice but you have to remember that there are auction fees on top of what you bid.
Having read the T&C's, you lodge your credit card number when registering to bid. If you win the auction you are instantly debited the auction fees before you go to collect the car. The Auction fees are 6% + VAT ( min £600).
Therefore so as soon as bidding passes £14500, you pass the £1000 mark on fees in addition to the hammer price.

The sale does include a hard top but the description also mentions a few areas that require attention, which I guess would offset that bonus.

There is currently a Silver, higher spec'd Lux Roadster (#017) for sale on ebay with 44k miles at £15,990 before any negotiation, so unless it goes for a good low hammer price the auction fees can be a real stinger on top, not to mention shelling out the £1k before you go to see the car on collection.

I test drove it last week of January. Didn't have the EML on at that stage, but yeah, hardly any paperwork. I called every BMW branch, Alpina and the BMW premium servicing line. No record of any services :-/

So crazy, I have the details of the previous owner. But figured it wouldn't be right to reach out.

Yeah similar feeling from them, that they were not that fussed trying to sell.

I reached out to the previous owner. He was a helpful chap and sounded passionate about the car.

I was ready to buy it but the salesman totally turned me off. Got a low mileage Z4MR instead.

Got a job again! (after 4 months of Covid searching).

So back in the market!

Wonder when prices will budge online ... judging from chat's I have had, there is going to be a few million job losses come August.

Very strange indeed, after it being there for so long you’d think they’d want it gone.

I’ve decided to forget it too, modding the Z4MR instead.

#257 sold at Auction this evening
Hammer price of £14,250 plus 6%. + VAT = £15,276

Will the new owner step forward ?

A question on values, I have been the owner of #116 for a while but with a kid and 3 other cars on the drive it doesn't see much use.

If you could potentially do with the money but aren't itching to get rid of the car, would you try and sell now? Or is it better to wait (and if so, how long for?)

Roadster S 3.4 Lux, 126k miles if I remember correctly. Huge box of receipts, I think values have plummeted a bit so may want to hold on for next summer.

I’d say if you can hang on until next year then do that, it’s probably the worst time to be selling a car in years, folk will be waiting to pick up the inevitable bargains that will be coming onto market. Just imo of course.

If I were to list it today, what's a sensible price to try for? The 143k-mile example is up for 9k, would mine be sensible at 10500-11k? Or does that put it too close to the others for sale?

If you’re in no hurry start high and drop slowly. The phone will start ringing when it comes into the correct bracket but I wouldn’t say £10-£11k is an unreasonable starting point

It all depends on history and condition really. I’ve seen cars described as mint and yet I’d be embarrassed to park them on my driveway.

Here's another one currently for sale, but in need of a little TLC.
The seller reports that it has some frontal bodywork damage and also requires a new headlight possibly.
I'm also unable to determine the Registration or build number at the moment too

Wasn’t this one advertised on the forum a while ago Alan..? Sorely tempted tbh, some important work done on it and you can tell a lot by how an ad is written imo.

Great ongoing list btw, Perry seems to have gone quiet it seems...? Anyway much appreciated.

I’m not sure John. I’m only aware of the Sterling car that was Cat D’d that had a lot of work done. This one (026) looks like a private sale so the information should be more freely available than a trade sale.

And yeah, I’m not sure where Perry’s gone recently
