Hi All,
Its been a while ... After having 2 hydrolic motors replaced on my old E85 I was expecting an easy ride with the E89 ...... Nope, when buying the seller told me they had the car fixed under warranty for a leaking read light ( quite common it seems ) - didnt think any more of it - however that led to the motor getting wet and obviously wasn't fully dried out - so now a few years later ..... the roof has slowed / stopped working and the motor looks proper rusty. The windows drop, rear screen section starts to rise slowly ... and i dare not go any further for fear of it not going back down. Given its trying to move the roof im pretty sure its the motor rather than a microswitch or hydrolic failure. ( It stopped working all together so I stripped it down and dried it out and now it just seems weak ) - Hydrolic levels are fine.
Anyway sorry for the back story ( looking for confirmation of diagnosis really ) - Has anyone done a Guide for how to change the motor ? I had it out and split off the motor complete with impeller key ( that was a suprise when it fell out ! - and the crazy bearing type thing ). If not does anyone know if you need to "prime" the pump when replacing it ? I was expecting it to be a dry seal between the motor and the hydrolic section but a tiny amount of hydrolic fluid came out when I split it, so now im wondering if i need to add any when I replace it ( ive not ordered the motor yet ) - i just couldn't resist having a poke around.
So hopefully theres a guide somewhere ? ( for reassurance ) - if not - I know to take some photos on the way
Cheers
Gareth

E89 Roof Motor replacement Guide ?
2K is just ridiculous, I read somewhere they used to be around 600 GBP at the stealers, I wonder what caused them to spike the price to over 2 grand? 499 GBP is more like it be it for a reconditioned unit.
