Can any of you please advise me how to put the roof into a service position so I can put some lube on the seals

Just take your finger off the button in the position you want it to stop in.
The engine must be running as the hydraulics will let the roof fall into position if its not.

Be careful with the boot lid when it's open, it will slowly fall.
I think nictrix is saying that if the engine is kept running it will keep the hydraulic pressure up and stop the roof from falling in the partial open/closed position. I haven't tried it so can't confirm.

Exactly this. The last time I was cleaning the rear window I didnt have the engine running and was wondering why the roof was falling slowly back into closed position. With the engine running it stayed where it was.

I put the roof in the position that I wanted it with the engine running but I had to do this 3 times as after approx 3 to 4 mins the roof closes to a semi closed position. I have managed to clean the seal and treat it with the VW stuff they use on the EOS roofs.

If you take your finger off the button when the rear screen is stacked on top of the main roof and the boot lid is in the upright position, then remove the key from the dash it will stay there all day. this is the actual service position, if you leave the key in then the boot will start to drop.
