Thanks for all the replies and concern guys. Really appreciated!

Sorry for the long post but I thought I'd be efficient and reply to everyone in one go

Ouch.

What an absolute Bellend eh! I’d take the insurance money and let them auction it off.
The insurance has been pretty accommodating and have actually already approved the repairs which was a relief. The car's in really good condition (other than the crashed bit) with low mileage (54K). With that in mind, I'd say the cost of repairs is just over 50% of the value - in the write-off territory... so i guess we got lucky and someone thought it's worth keeping the car on the road. I was dreading that it would be written off to be honest.

Sorry to see that
I take the driver stayed with his vehicle.

I'm surprised it wasn't written off! Sorry to see this OP, you're lucky it's coming off his insurance though, guess he was too drunk to leave the scene?
Yep, he stayed put. Luckily there were a few witnesses nearby and i think the guy was too plastered to run anyway. The insurance issue was a bit tricky. I've never had to deal with it before so didn't realise what a messy process it is. I called my insurance and they basically made it seem like my only option was to make a claim with them, pay my excess, and lose my NCB until they could potentially, maybe, recoup the cost from the 3rd party's insurance - no guarantees made. So i rung up the guilty party's insurance company instead and went from there. The police attended the accident and provided me with all the details.

As long as its not declared a total loss/CAT N (unlikely but, insurance companies probably wont understand the value/desirability of Z4 coupe) then no one will know- it wont be recorded if its just a repair.
A big pain in the arse for you in the mean time but, hopefully all ends well.
Perhaps if they do repair, then maybe get the wheels off and deal with the surface rust on the anti-roll bar and other bits!!
If selling, I'd be totally honest and disclose it to any potential buyers but that's good to know. I thought it may be recorded on a database somewhere for the rest of the car's life. Good point about the rust! Will make sure to get that dealt with

Those pictures aren't pretty OP - you must be furious.
Hopefully it will be repairable - good Coupes aren't too easy to find.
And more importantly I hope Vines do a good job.
I've been pissed off all week, not gonna lie.
Agreed! I feel that it's my duty to protect the endangered coupe from extinction haha

Not good at all.
Hope it all gets sorted.
With a bit of luck they'll be able to remove the butchers apron off the side of the car too!
Funny you say that... the left wing will be replaced and i've asked the garage to get that 'apron' off the other side. Past owner's handiwork which i never liked the look of...

Hi Iggy,
to put a positive angle on it, it does not sound as though anybody was hurt and that's way more traumatic to have to deal with on a street you walk past every day, I mean its not even Christmas yet, get a cab!
Always difficult to tell from photos but I think this is very repairable with no adverse consequences as the force has gone onto the front wheel, so there will be wishbones etc.. to replace but that has absorbed the impact. Wing and bumper will replace. I'd make sure it was fully tracked on completion and if poss an engineers report. If the inner wing is creased or seams parted then it could be more serious. There are not that many Zed coupes left so a shame to see it written off as cat N or whatever as it blemishes a good car forever.
Gav
That's very true and at least that's one positive. Pretty happy I'm getting some new bits for the car too
Absolutely agree - looks like it is fully repairable and will get a full wheel alignment done too. Annoyingly i just paid £150 for a wheel alignment a couple of days before the accident but oh well... will definitely ask for a report when all the work is done

Might be worth investing in a full front suspension refurb. Of the two cars years ago that suffered being hit when stationary, both never quite drove the same after being repaired.
Fingers crossed it’ll be done properly
Very good point. The garage actually called me yesterday and said the same thing, so that's already planned. We'll have to pay a bit out of our own pocket but at least both sides will be completely rebuilt and at a much reduced cost as the front of the car will already be disassembled.

Can I be the first a***hole to circle like a vulture and say "If you end up breaking it... if the headlights are Xenon - can I have first dibs on the Driver Side Xenon please"!!
Sorry to hear this though, this is like the 2nd or 3rd I've seen like this now - there was a post on a facebook group too where someone was hit by an uber driver (I think it was uber or a taxi of sorts) and done some serious damage
Haha I wish they were xenon!

I feel your pain

mine suffered a similar hit back in Nov 2016 when parked up outside. From your pics there was less bodywork damage to mine, however the cost of repair was £2,300 as the steering rack needed replacing along with some of the offside suspension. Insurance paid up and the car drives as good as new, front bumper was resprayed due to minor scuff, which cleared up all my road rash. The driver was high and uninsured and totalled their car half a mile further ending up in a critical condition in hospital.
Anyway, its a right pita to sort everything out, but hopefully you can work through it all and get you Zed back on the road as good as new :driving:
Sorry to hear it Marlon, glad that it wasn't worse! That is kind of the silver lining i suppose - lots of new bits for the car is never bad and I've had quite a bit of stone chipping on the front bumper which will now be taken care of. I also got really lucky that there were witnesses, the driver stayed at the scene, and the police were there within 10 minutes dealing with it. Sounds like in your case it could've been more messy.
