ZHP part number clarification

Hi

Got an E85 - ploughed through the forum looking for a part number for a 5 speed ZHP Gear Knob which I located and believe to be 25117896031

However spoke to a BMW garage that had one advertised on ebay and they tell me that this part number is not compatible with my car.

Does anyone know if this is the correct part number or have an alternative? Maybe BMW don't formally recognise the part as being for the Z4 but it still fits in practice?

Would like to try and get some clarity before I order - though dealer is now flagging a bit of a delay in getting these as per other posts on the subject.

Yep, I think you're right about everything. Correct part number, correct BMW may not recognise that it fits E85, but it does, etc etc.

Hope you have better luck sourcing a 5 speed than I've had getting a 6 speed!

Thanks Jamie - a bit hacked off with them too on the basis that they report they have one in stock on ebay but when I made contact they state a delay!

Just managed to order an in stock one from Stratstone BMW in Hull.

Basically I phoned my local BMW dealer who didn't have any stock but was able to tell me who did in the UK. Stratstone were the only stockist in the England, the other two were in Ireland.

Might be worth trying this for the 6 speed version!

If I'm having difficulty in supply from UK dealers, I often try one of the online 'foreign' sites (oftentimes they're cheaper too):
