ZHP 6 Speed Gear Knob Fitment Query

Hi all,

I have recently bought the ZHP gear knob! Curiously, should there be a little bit of movement in the knob if you try and turn it? I did notice the prong which slots into the shaft was two smaller prongs and not one long prong like the original?

Moderate force; hardly anything will not move it.

I believe I have, although I am not entirely happy with the small gap at the bottom of the kob/ shaft. I have continued to thump it a couple of times and it is not moving?

I also noticed there are two smaller prongs inside the new knob, whereas the original knob had one piece?

Moderate force; hardly anything will not move it.

Hi, I've just been outside & checked-it does move a little but I'm pretty sure it's the gear lever itself which is twisting rather than the zhp slopping around.

Just checked mine and it has no movement at all, it's solid.
It has no gap at the bottom either.

I don't think you have pushed it on fully.

It needs a good old bang to sit properly.

Thanks Russ59, I will take another look, although I hate banging the new shifter as the 6 speed plaque doesn't seem 100% fixed. Did everyone else's have two prongs, instead on one long prong?

When I fitted mine I really pushed it in hard with both hands applying lots of body weight. I felt a distinct click as I pushed it into place. There's no movement and no gap at the bottom. As for the prongs I can't recall and don't fancy removing it to check

I grabed a quick shot of the base of my old ZHP knob, hope it helps, mine just needed a very firm push down to locate it into place, and no gap at bottom or movement. Mine just pushed onto the metal gear lever shaft, no other plastics attached

Cheers Marlon, I did give it another thump yesterday, although my fist came off worse

It is fine under normal operation, just in comparison with the original knob it differs.

If you shine a light into the aperture of the ZHP, do you see one prong or two smaller prongs? Mine didn't really click...it just slotted into place.

Thanks Scooba Steve, it isn't flopping around - so I will monitor and it does take a good pull to take it off.

No problem I suspect that you still need to give the knob a firm, hard and forceful downward push which should secure the knob firmly in place.
