Zen Internet - Rant ... (mini)

I have been a customer of Zen for at least 10 years and have always been happy with their support, automatic utilisation allowances etc, but recently I feel I have been taken the p*ss out of.

Last year, one of the usual mail shots was about increased speed using Fibre connection. I can't get the real stuff in the sticks, but it was an improvement from 6 to 14 Mb, so far so good. 24 months extension to contract as part of the deal, no problems as I was not planning to move anywhere.

Now, in the last 6 months not only have they halved the monthly costs for new customers for the same package, they have also made the connection "unlimited" versus my monthly limit of 100 Gb. To add insult to injury, they have now double the allowances for ALL their customers - except those on the Fibre package who are stuck for at least another year on this package.

They have lost a lot of good will from me in this instance, and considering that from a business point of view I have put in 60 customers on Zen for remote office workers I will certainly think carefully in the future.

There's a lot of this going on, showing no reward for loyalty. It seems its all about ensnaring new business and bugger the long standing customers.

Can't you ring them and threaten to leave?

I can't leave as the contract is for 24 months and to leave I have to pay the remainder of the contract off. Even when moving to their unlimited new package (at about half of what I pay now), I have to pay off the full 24 months package before paying again for the lower rate package.

No option to do anything - except that I wrote a letter of complaint to them. Not bothered with any threats of pulling 60 lines from them as the amount of work I would cause myself would be too much :D

Interesting... ;) it was Zen I just had that job interview with ;) as their managed services operations manager.

I didn't get it, nor in the end did I want it. Apparently I'm not corporate enough. Thank god.
