Zed envy?

As an e89 owner of 5 years or so I'm well used to other drivers who seem to want to make a point of driving right up my backside, racing off at the lights etc. I had one last week who overtook on the inside and cut me up in a 30mph zone despite the fact that I may have been very slightly over the speed limit myself :oops:

The other day I was driving home in my village when I heard a screech of tyres to my left at the local filling station and hot hatchback driven by a moronic youth attempted to emerge onto the road, our eyes met and he shouted 'F*CK YOU'! WTF?

Anybody else had similar experiences?
 
Can't say I have.

I get the occasional comment about how they wheels probably cost too much money, but most of the time it's a smile or a thumbs up, sometimes a picture or two.
 
Nope. Not had any of that sort of abuse. Do get Evo's and such baiting from time to time. No harm there. :D
 
I was waiting to turn right once with the roof down on a sunny day a bloke in a people carrier called me a f**king idiot ,shouting it in to the car from above .no idea why I laughed to myself and thought at least im not driving a s**t car like you are .
 
I drive a VW Caravelle and people are desperate to be in front and will pull out in front of me. Nothing to report about the DD. But yes, I do get people wanting to race when out in the Z4, hanging off the bumper and doing risky overtakes. It was the same when I had my trike, everyone thinks you are just out for a race, when all I wanted was some milk.

Seems to be more of an issue when hood is down not up
 
Use to get more abuse when I first bought it looking standard.
Now it's rather heavily modified I can't go anywhere without someone wanting to talk about it, take a picture of it etc.
It's a nice feeling but i usually have to be somewhere and it holds me up :lol:
 
Had similar happen on the drive home from picking mine up. Slow moving traffic on the motorway, I was in the middle lane doing 5 mph. Out of the corner of my eye it looked like the slow lane driver was waving at me.
A proper look revealed the guy in the slow lane with wife and two kids was giving me the w*nker sign. Ignored him. Next pass he did it again. I put the window down to ask him what his problem was and he pointed at my car and again gave the w*nker sign.

His wife looked embarrassed and his poor kids had no idea what was going on. I just laughed.

The irony was that my previous car was the exact same car as his.

Thankfully had nothing like it since but I did wonder what I'd let myself in for at the time.
 
Can't say I've ever had any abuse. I find people are very willing to let the Zed out at junctions & far more willing to give me right of way when I'm in the Zed rather than the 535. I quite regularly get shouts of "your car's lush" generally from boys aged about 11 :o
I visited a friend near Bracknell a few weeks ago. I had the hood up as it had raining. As I parked up a group of about 6 lads aged around 10 were watching & as I got out of the car they were all whispering "it's a lady" - not sure what they were expecting to see :rofl:
 
I got spat at in the Z3 once with the hood down by a van driver, only had one or two run ins when I had the Z4, the M135i it goes without saying, Audis are the worse, small vans who think their Fangio at 7am in the morning and women who think its normal to mash the loud pedal to the carpet with no mechanical sympathy whatsoever 100% all of the time. My works car park goes off onto a dual carriageway and I never gun it from cold which people following me off the car park just don't understand. It never bothers me much anymore so long as the idiots don't hit me. If I'm in the mood and tickle the pedal they usually just disappear backwards but most of the time its pointless unless someone really irritates me. I had thought of replacing the M135i with a 114i badge :D

Best solution is to fit front and rear dash cams then you can film any funny business and send off to plod with the reg number, at least that gives some self satisfaction.

I get the usual overtaking by idiots in am traffic while I am cruising with roof down chilled. Then pass by the morons a little later as they go into a slower lane :driving:

Did get the d!kc head gesture other day because i presume i stuck to speed limit & had roof down. I just waved smiling.
Best thing is to ignore & enjoy the zed with a smile :D
 
I must say it's not all bad, I've had lots of 'nice car mate' shouts when the roof is down. I sometimes get into conversations with complete strangers on supermarket carparks who just want to have a look at the zed close up.
 
Tells you more about them than it does about you . . . .

I'd like a sticker that says 'I haven't got the roof down to show off, it's just a great way to drive'.
