Zeckhausen CDV

I just came across a CDV that I bought for the Zed, But seeing as how I've sold the Zed. The valve needs a new home. It's still in the plastic bag it came in and is marked as follows: CDV-004 1-fin, 17MM hex, Round body, BMW P/N 21-52-6-755-892

I will sell this in the same manner that I sold my car cover last year. Make the appropriate donation to sp3ctre to support this forum. When sp3ctre tells me he has received the donation I will post the CDV to you. As I bought this in America I only paid $50USD which included shipping. So, A donation of 30 quid would do nicely. I get rid of something I don't need, The forum gets a little support, And a Zed owner gets a good deal.

I was asking because of curiosity, and I am still wondering whats the benefit of modifing CDV instead of just removing it.. But if you want to answear in a rude manner, just save your nerves :poke:

Sorry. Your right. It's just a bit of a pet peeve that I and a lot of forum members the world over have concerning the lack of use that the forum search engine or google gets before a question is asked. I found 2399 posts on this forum about the CDV. That's why I popped off a bit. Once again sorry about giving you a hard time.

Theory of Operation - What is a CDV?

The Clutch Delay Valve (CDV) is a one-way restrictor installed by the factory between the clutch slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder. It "delays" the engagement of the clutch.

Because of this valve, no matter how quickly you lift your foot off the clutch pedal, the clutch engages the flywheel at a constant (slow) rate. In theory, it can save the driveline from shock, were an inexperienced (or immature) driver to dump the clutch. But in practice, all it does is prematurely wear out the clutch and turn experienced drivers into people who, despite years of practice, cannot shift smoothly. During parallel parking maneuvers, the delay can be infuriating, causing constant clutch slippage. And during hard acceleration, the slippage can greatly shorten the life of your clutch. During normal, sedate driving, the shift from first into second gear is often jerky, leading passengers to question your skill. As the driver, you can see your passengers' heads bobbing back and forth during every shift! Yes, in their minds, they are laughing at you.

The Zeckhausen CDV is a modified factory valve that does away with the delay function and thus acts just like the direct linkage of an old school mechanical actuated (pushrod or cable) clutch.
 
£30 is a bargain. Top man for donating to the forum.

I'm unsure whether to remove mine or get a modified one.

I wasnt asking what's the cdv just how zuckenhousen (or whatever) is different from the original :-)
No I know that theres no difference between modified cdv and no-cdv
