Z4um dead as a dodo!

I never met Amir but I'm sure he was a terrific bloke.

However anyone that starts a site dedicated to Z4's then within a few months sells his Z4 and buys an Audi TT must have to be tremendously dedicated to ensure his site doesn't eventually come to grief. Especially if he's not prepared to share the relevant passwords and access codes etc!

Sad as the demise of Z4um is, unfortunately I have to concur with Sc3ptre's view that if the owner hasn't seen fit to share the appropriate knowledge, then when unexpected (and in this case very sad) events occur it's entirely then inevitably the board and it's users will suffer.

Others might call it Darwinism

(BTW - Jim, what happens if you get run over by a submarine??!!)

Sincerely, no matter what really happened in z4um's demise, I would never blame anyone for anything or feel let down by the owner of the site.

When I get a free service I expect nothing, not even for that free service to always be there. I'm just grateful for having being able to use that free service while it was available. Just as I am ever grateful to Sp3tre for having started this board and basically paying for all of us.

Thank you, Sp3ctre!!

Should z4-forum ever disappear I would never have hard feelings towards Sp3ctre . . . I did not pay a penny to be here. A great community will survive anyway, just like it seems our community as overcome the demise of the z4um domain.

So... any thoughts as to registering the Z4um domain and directing traffic directly to here?

Excellent idea!

It looks like the z4um name is now available for back-order at Network Solutions ... I beleive that there is a grace period in which the original owner can renew, after that it is up for grabs.

True..

Uh, why bother? Most of the old group has found this one and stayed. The rest will trickle in by word of mouth.

Sigh - true that, but just snarfing the old name won't bring back the old content...
:?

if we could only get a dump of the database... Of course, it was either the database or the database process that seemed to have died.
