3 very different cars indeed I will start with the Zeds. The Imola is on stock springs and the Carbon Black is on Eibachs with a custom geo set up. This definitely has improved steering feel and it felt great to turn in. The Eibachs offer a similar ride but with better turn in and better looks.
However, we all agreed the current set up ain't quite right in it's current form, will let Ali fill in the details on this. As a result of this the Imola is the easier car to drive but out of the 3 cars Ali's Carbon Black Zed had the best steering feel.
The CSL as Ali said sounds great, driving position good and the seats are supportive. You need to drive it in sport mode to get the best from it. The steering feel is on par with the stock Zed but it definitely turns in better, most likely due to it's set up.
Performance wise they are on par but you can feel that it has the longer final drive which equals out the weight reduction and claimed power gain over the Zed. Top spec CSL's are apparently 40kg heavier than the advertised weight of the original car so this could also explain what we found.
The way the CSL rides the bumps beats the Zed, the dampers are perhaps slightly softer but not that much different. It is a lighter car with a longer wheelbase which would help.
I liked the way the SMG box automatically blipped the throttle on the downchange and had no major issues with the way the car changed gear. Only issue was that it was ever so slightly jerky and fidgity when in town.
Not sure they are worth the premium to swap, they will become collectable and the noise is addictive but I won't be changing either.
