In slight fairness to the dealer, and assuming they don't specialise in BMW's (or have you already said it is?) it's not possible for them to know every detail about every car they sell.

I think that anyone "in the trade" who tells potential customers that you can shorten gear ratios by pressing a button deserves all the ridicule they get. :x

i did say in 'slight' fairness :P . Yes stating it shortens the gear ratio's is rather stupid

I love my fat steering wheel - the feel, the grip you have, and how it looks from the side. Does take a little getting used to, but now when I drive my wife's Honda I feels like I'm steering with a hula hoop (the toy, not the crisp...). Horrible, especially as it feels like I'm driving a bus too.

Good luck with your search

Thanks for all the responses folks. Seem a friendly and useful bunch, which is always a bonus when buying a car. Don't think I've ever read how to retro fit cruise control to a car I don't own, maybe this place will be a bad influence :P

That's why I didn't see the foam, I will make sure to have a look in the battery box in the boot. Guess the steering wheel will just take some getting used to, jumped straight out of an xj into the z4mc so it was a big contrast. And it was a main BMW dealer, biggest franchise in the UK according the sales guy

Only 2 on BMW Approved now :( both very low miles though (10 and 12k! how can they not have driven them!) but a bit on the high side of my budget, hmm :(

I never thought I'd see a steering wheel as sexual, but a few years ago a young, cute and petite service advisor was allowed to drive my car from the service area. I waited outside and as she arrived I thought she looked gorgeous sat in there, head hardly peering over the wheel. When I opened the door to find her tiny little hands wrapped around the thick leather steering wheel it was I'm afraid a bit of a turn on

So another reason to buy the M, you could have moments like that :)

Ha :). No, another although I think I know the lady you're talking about in Hungerford, she's nice. The receptionist there seems a real sweetheart too.

Nice looking car! But is that a dent behind the rear wheel??? Hopefully won't be too difficult to repair.
In any case, congratulations and good luck!

Having tried this several times whilst enjoying my new Remus back boxes, I've revised this - it's actually 70 mph :D

I'm not sure it is a dent, I think it's just a reflection on a normal but very grubby curve at the top of the bumper / bottom of the wing - I thought mine had a dent there once until I got closer
