Z4M/// steering wheel question

HI, just wondered if anybody has any experience or knowledge of the following.

"do the spokes (trims) from a standard Z4 steering wheel fit the Z4M steering wheel"?

I just love the Z4M wheel (well actually like it slightly more that the standard hard wheel) and fancy a change, but do not want to spend out for the spoke trims. Just transfer the controls and bits from the original wheel to the Z4M wheel as i have the MF controls etc.

sounds silly, but the spokes are extraordinarily expensive given that there is nothing to do with the original steering wheel except keep it until I sell the car.

I do hate the standard wheel :x

Looking at the OEM site shows a discrepency in part numbers between the Z4M wheel spoke trims and the standard wheel. In addition where the spoke trim covers each respective wheel the diameters of the wheel rim are different (thicker for the Z4M than the ordinary fit) which would further confirm that the trims are tailored for the respective wheel. I want to to do the same mod. but just keep looking out for a secondhand one with mf. at a reasonable price.

Hi Dario,

Alan's identified the isse via part numbers and the size difference.

It's been done in the past and I've seen posts relating to it wherby the trims have to be cut down to fit the new 'fatter' wheel. Easy enough to guess but of course not a reversible mod when selling the car.
