Z4M seats into z4 (bear with me)

Yes I know lots have asked this before (as I already have) but I have read all of the threads I can find and am more confused than before i started. I have a 2003 car so what m seats will be a straight swap without having to strip the seats to change over all the sensors everyone is talking about. The thought of pulling good seats apart to get mats in and out frightens me.
Thanks for looking

Any of them will go in. Believe me there are a lot harder jobs than swapping the leather swabs from one base to another.

As a 'straight swap' that depends on what you have now. Electric/memory? heated?

My 2003 originally had electric non heated seats and i put in manual heated M seats and used my electric bases with them.

The wiring looms were already in place in my car for heated operation as they are in most cars, this is because BMW can then fit options that the customer specs with relative ease. So you can almost count on that.
All i then had to do was buy the control panel that has the buttons on it, plug it in and enjoy a warm seat.
The seats just unbolt from the floor and the M ones bolt on directly. Swapping the seat bases is documented in other threads.

I have no problem with the nuts and bolts bit but it is the seat sensors for the air bag and seat belt seems to be a minefield

Any msport seat from pre 2006  Have fun finding them though, or it will be seat mat swapping if your not happy with an ebay bypass box.

Hi Chris, have you done this job and is it capable of a keen diy er. What does this by pass box do and can you tell me what to get please. Really want to get the seats so i would get prepaired

Ahh just found the bypass box but they all seem to be for z3's if I am looking at the right thing

I have 2006 seats in mine, and have had to use the ebay bypass box to get my airbag light out. Short way of doing it, as i really did not want to take the seats apart. But if you can find 2004 seats etc, then they are simply plug and play. Very easy to do :D
