Z4M recent alignment

Afternoon all. I’ve recently put eibach pro springs on so went to get the Alignment done today to make sure everything is where it should be. I took it to a pretty reputable place apparently!

Anyhow got back and realised that the adjustments they made were based on a E89 z4. I phoned them up and they told me that it wouldn’t have made a difference and that they would have based adjustments on what the car was running on initially... doesn’t feel right to me. I can’t find the alignment specs on what the z4m coupe should be running but if someone in the know could have a look at the attached photo and see how far out it looks and if indeed it is out on what it should be I can phone them back and get them to do it again!

Appreciate your insight!

Toe is a bit off on the rear, everything else looks fine (as in 'fine' in relation to the limits of available adjustments).

Assuming you're after OE alignment, and haven't lowered the car or specifically asked for a pointier alignment...

I believe the front camber should be 1.0º ±0.2º rather than 1.3º or 1.4º. Rear should be 1.5º ±0.2º - the the rear right looks high.

Please don’t take this wrong way, but I would honestly not bother unless you know what you are trying to achieve with a non-standard alignment. It actually puts the person in the garage in quite a difficult position if they are trained up on the machine but not an alignment specialist.

For what it’s worth, they haven’t left you with two of the main (subjective) benefits of the Z4M alignment vs the non-M, which are reductions in what many people believe to be excessive amounts of rear camber and all-round toe. Dropping the total front toe down to where it was originally and making the RR camber match the RL will leave you quite close to the Z4M (roadster) stock alignment for a suck-it-uppable amount labour on their part.

That's not an alignment, that's just tracking, didn't even touch the camber on any corner! Was it ats? :poke:

For what's it's worth, I ran on eibach springs with the CSL alignment for some time, it was a nice little upgrade over standard, I'd recommend asking them to adjust to that

Thanks for the insight and the specs. To be honest if I’d have taken it to national or any other mainstream outfit I would have expected it. But these guys are well known in the area for setting cars up properly and I was hoping for more, especially seeing as they were twice the price..

Anyhow after another phone call and chat with a different technician we agreed it should have been done properly in the first place and it’s booked in again next week hopefully with the correct car in the system!
