Z4M: Lower profile on OEM 224 wheels?

Hi.

Does anyone have lower profiles on their 224 OEM wheels?

I want to go 225/40 and 255/35 because I think it looks better. Pros/Cons? Pics?

/Filip

After running 225/45 and 265/40 on 18s for the last few months, IMHO I would have to say that these profiles are best for wheel arch "fillage" on 18s.

However if you're going for the euro small wheel/tyre lowered stanced look, I'd say go for it, but only if that's the look you're aiming for

Cons:
[*]Worse MPG
[*]Higher revs required at normal cruising speed
[*]Less 'give' in tyre walls
[*]Increase in speed over-reading error

Pros:
[*]Slightly better acceleration

Tyres themselves will be cheaper as well won't they ?
Yes, if those sizes are made in higher numbers than OE sizes - although the con to that might be that they tyre you want is not available at all (e.g. Michelin PSS) :P

Ok, to bad because PSS is what I'm looking for :)
I just think that such a high profile as 45 looks bad, balloon-tires :)

I am planing on having my 224's repainted and buy PSS and replace the CSL's for a while.

Aren't yours 19s CPboy?
The 224s are 18s.
35 and 30s on 19s are on the wheels in my sig pic. we changed back to 224s from the CSLs and the ride was much better, I *think* the sies are 235 40 18 and 265 35 18 on at the mo and the improvement in comfort is dramatic.

Just read the thread properly..... Lol yes sorry mine are not the standards, they are indeed 19's

F 235/35 & R 265/30 on 19" rims work well! :)

On OEM 224s I think that you'll have quite a bit of clearance to the wheel arches and your speedo will read around about 4% too high.
