Z4M Inspection 1 Indy cost

Guys,

Sorry to ask a boring question that HAS been asked before (but not recently that I can find nor related to Indy or ///M's and possibly difference in regional prices!)

So, my Coup is due an Insp1 in a few hundred miles, so looking at getting it booked in, most probably with James at:

http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=41336

But what should I expect to pay? I've seen prices range from £200-£700?!?! What parts/oils etc can I buy beforehand to possibly bring the overall cost down a bit? I trust James and am more than confident he knows what he's doing and what is required but is there anything extra that could/should be checked?

Cheers for any feedback in advance :)

I'd feel uncomfortable if it was only £200 (all inclusive), as the valve clearances can take 4 hours in themselves, and I assume labour rates will be £50+/hour. Plus you've got £200 of oil & parts to factor in.

On the flip side, I think anything more than £500 at an indy would be considered expensive when you can negotiate an Inspection 2 down to £700-ish at a dealer.

Don't forget that whilst you're saving money by buying/providing the oil/parts yourself, you're also taking profit away from the indy, and I'd understand an indy insisting on supplying genuine oil/parts themselves - even if it's only £50 extra profit it may still be £50 extra on £50 profit. Would you do it for £50?

I just bought six litres of oil from ECP for £47 with a promo. Local stealer wanted £108 so well worth doing.

Can only suggest phone local stealers for pricing. My nearest indi is to far for an oil change only. The difference and a day off work just isnt worth it.

Good advice, thanks guys.

So can people just submit what they paid at their last Insp1 on an M please just so I've got a rough idea?

Thanks :)

When is inspection 1 and 2 eyc due? Where does it say? Thanks
Inspection I: 24-30k miles
Inspection II: 48-60k miles

With oil services in between or every 2 years.

It will come up on the service indicator when it's due, and you'll have about 1,000 miles leeway for it to be classed as 'on time'.

Just to bump this thread up and give you guys an update, just received a quote for Inspection I:

AMC London: £675 inclusive of parts labour and vat
+ brake fluid change £63 inc.
