Z4M induction kit... Possible new cheaper option?

Iv posted to see if there is any chance it will be made to fit our cars or if there are plans to enable it to be adapted. A price of >£500 before a group buy is being quoted which sounds like it may be promising

I notice they were showing a dyno of an M3 with a healthy 14hp gain, but that car had an aftermarket exhaust as well, and didn't take into account the extra power the OE system gets due to the ram air effect you get when moving.

The gap might not be as large as that if you have a standard exhaust, and the OE setup might gain a few HP over the static dyno numbers when moving anyway.

I'd want to see a comparison of air volumes & temps going in at speeds of 60-150mph (on the autobahns of course).

Personally, I'd want it for the intake noise more than anything

If it comes in around £400 and is plug in and play and makes a nice noise I'll have one. Looks well made and having seen an E46 with the CSL box and the quality of the work and fitment this looks promising

Guys evolve are developing this kit for the z4m on my other halfs car.

We were up there last week, where we test fitted the intake. I'll be taking the car up again after our trip to the nurburgring. This time we will prototype brackets and heat shields plus actually get it dyno testing.

The car currently had a evolve map, but for testing this will no doubt be removed, because they want to develop the intake as a stand alone bolt on and drive kit

Just for info,what difference did the evolve map make when the car was standard ?

Interesting, is it sealed to the front air scoop preventing warm air entering from the engine bay?

Was interested in the evolve map on my standard car and this in combination could make it more worthwhile

Been following their thread on TotalMCars. Something that would interest me as well down the line as their CSL style intake is still way too expensive.

I don't think it is mate, but really, warm air from the engine bay will be an issue only in slow stop-start traffic.

Evolve did have this to say though: "Funny you should mention that - we have been trying out this intake in the Z4M and it fits perfectly. We also have a scoop which goes behind the grill to direct the air into the intake. Only thing we now need to do is design a heat shield. On the Z4M - the intake sits directly over the cold air duct so the heat shield will be more of a deflector to minimise soak rather than a sealed panel."

By the way they are also developing an air scoop to be used on E46 M3s:







as well as a version for the Z4M which looks a lot like the existing RPI scoop..

This could be great. Love the noise of the Gruppe M, its just the potential heat soak issues that concern me. If Evolve can overcome that as they hope to this could be a winner. Have added to your suggestion FRO8MEE on cutters that they start a thread on here

Shame they seem to have sporadic build quality but then as ever, you get what you pay for.

I'd love an evolve box but i simply could not run one with the issue they are having with heel and toe. I'm also sceptical about running anything without accurate load measurement. Even with compensation tables that i assume reference the barometric sensor in the ecu, i'm just not convinced it will be suitable for a car that spends a fair bit of time up and down mountains. I tried to contact them about it but they didn't reply

I'm far from an expert though so am happy to be corrected/have my mind put at rest about it all.

Its near on £2k once a remap is added and various other items that are required even with group buy discounts...
