Went down to Cadwell Park with the Z4MR yesterday, brilliant dry day and the old beember did good
Luckily I've done Cadwell before and in a lot worse conditions so settled into it quite well. Did first couple of runs with the DSC on but found it far too nannying on track even pre-emptive at times which was odd when your trying to power out of a corner. With the traction off the car really came alive. Cadwell is a nice smooth track so it was very light on the tyres even though almost every high speed corner involves a bit of drift on the exit. It is quite heavy on the brakes but I think its actually done the car some good as I've had the brakes wilting a bit on the road - probably dust build up in the discs when they arent used hard (had this before on my old car) I was able to lap for a good 15 minutes without any sign of fade.
Other than sticking a tyre on the grass at complex I had an otherwise uneventful day. Not so for a couple of the drivers there. I've never been to a trackday with so many stoppages! They say Cadwell is like a mini nurburgring well it was yesterday with the track being closed about 5 or 6 times for the recovery truck to go out. Old 3 series went on a big grasstracking mission, peeling two tyres off the rims and breaking the steering (not trailering either - ouch) couple of breakdowns and a pug had a meeting with the armco (new bonnet/wings/bumper needed) Bump of the day went to an S2000 that was right up the banking at the bottom of Mansfield as I came round. This chap was very lucky as I saw him driving in the paddock later so the car must have been reletively ok. On first sight I thought a ride home with the AA would have been on the cards!
Will post some pics later on
