Excellent, thanks, I’ll send him an email. Hopefully he can ship it directly to Aus. I’ve added this thread to my list of modifications to make :D

 my list keeps growing too

If you're in oz you might be better off contacting rtdmotorsport direct to investigate who is their local distributor for you? I figured you were in the UK - ps designs are the UK based distributor - I'm sure they'll be able to sort something out for shipping to oz if you're really stuck though!

One thing to note - the communication from rtd was a bit pants - but in the end they delivered in a couple of weeks :)

My list too

I was in the UK until the last few years when I’ve been variously there and in Sydney. I shipped my Zed here at the end of last year.

I’ll try rtdmotorsport directly as you suggest. Worst case scenario, I can have it shipped to an address in the UK and then bring it here in my suitcase

Bit of a n00b question, Ed, but how is the shift angle shortened by kits like this? The shaft is obviously a lot taller than the stock gear lever. Is it just the additional height of the sprung pivot point above the base of the kit (and hence a longer section below the pivot)? Any pics with the boot off/bung out?

I suppose I'm trying to work out what the origin of the "knuckley" feeling is. I'm sure throw length exacerbates it, but it seems more likely that it's a combination of soft bushings in the shifter linkage, mounts etc and fairly stiff springs. I'm quite happy with the throw length, so I wonder if replacing some of these items would do the job.

Not a noob question at all - you're exactly right; with the new shifter the 'fulcrum' is raised into the car, so in effect the length of rod below the fulcrum is longer than the oem setup, and this shortens the shift quite considerably - if the shift lever above the fulcrum remained the same length it would be ridiculously short, but this is then offset by the lever being longer, re-lengthening the shift a bit! (does that make any sense?)
Either way, the net effect is still a shorter shift both moving up and down and across the box.

In terms of the 'knuckly' feeling - I think I know what you mean - there is still a very mechanical 'clunky' feeling there even with the new shifter, but the big advantage is there is none of the 'rubberyness' in the shift action now (all the rubber is essentially removed from the mechanism now!), meaning you can be more precise with throttle and clutch to finesse gear changes. It's difficult to fully describe but I guess the shift is just a lot more transparent to me - it feels ruddy fantastic just pottering about as well as hooning - I love it!

I think it is possible to polybush or solid bush the OEM Shifter bushes, that would go a long way to reduce slop in the OE set-up, but personally for my car I'm not fussy about keeping it a standard unmolested example so the shifter mod was for me the best option - I'm over the moon with it :)

Cheers. ffs, another thing to think about that I don't really need...
