Can anyone recommend a good (aka cheapest) place to buy Z4M front discs and pads? Want to stick oem.

Sounding terrible currently, need to swap sooner rather than later! May have left too long!

Have a look at maindealerdiscount, local BMW dealers seem to supply & fit them on there for less than I can find just the genuine parts anywhere else.

You'd know if you'd left it too late as the brake wear indicator on the dash would be on. If you get them changed quick you might not need to buy new sensors.

Have you looked at http://www.ebcbrakeshop.co.uk ? I used to have a real downer on EBC from a few years back, but I've run EBC Greens on two sprint cars (MR2 and Saxo) and been very pleased with the results. I ordered Mintex 1144 all round for the MR2 and the supplier was out of stock of the fronts so shipped some EBC Greens instead. By the time the Mintexes turned up, I wasn't keen to swap them.

I changed mine late 2012 got the discs from GSF £312 put EBC pads in £90 and new seals main dealer only £38.

I tend to steer clear of EBC.

I had EBC Discs on my Civic Type R and warped them. Then had them skimmed on the car, so I knew they were good, and promptly warped them again.

Won't be buying another set I don't think.

Warping happens because of issues with other suspension components like bushes I thought ?

Not at all. The disc is essentially part of the hub, as is the caliper, so whatever the hub may do due to suspension issues the disk and caliper will also do in unison.

Discs warp due to over heating, not being bedded in properly, muck caught between the wheel and the hub and general abuse.

They also warp due to poor quality materials.

My CTR was only 2 years old with less than 20k on it, so the suspension was still in good condition. As I fitted the discs and followed the bedding in process myself I thought I'd made a mistake and caused the first warp. When they warped for a second time I decided it was down to poor quality discs. I part ex'd it soon after so didn't bother pursuing it.

When was this? I had a similar experience with Greens and Reds on my Impreza (2000-2004 I think). But having run them on two competition cars I've been surprised.

eurocarparts

+1

I bought my discs from Eurocarparts, Pagid ones are identical to the OEM discs. With the current discount code the fronts are about £155 each! If you search online, lots of the CSL guys buy these too .

For pads, get yourself some Performance Friction Z rated pads, about £60 from Amazon.

Thanks guys, ill have a search and get something from Europarts!

Nice little weekend project swapping over, quite looking forward to it!!!
