Pride and joy is sitting at the local dealer waiting for a replacement engine mount to come from Germany so have got a 118d on the drive for at least a week.

Wanted to know if anyone has (or even just researched) installing an engine dampener to stop this happening again?

Also as its getting close to the warranty expiring has anyone extended theirs and if so what was the cost?

Thanks guys

their was an issue with this in the US, i will uprate my mounts if i get the issues, can we have some more details? milege? daily runner? track use?

Just gone through 30,000 miles used every day on UK roads but I admit it does get driven fairly hard

I've only had it since about 25,000 miles so not sure of its early history but got the impression (due to his job and the mileage) that it was mostly motorway cruising with a few miles of proper driving when he was on roads he knew.

Wouldnt have minded as much but the dealer originally said they couldnt find any fault but decided to order a replacement bush that sits between the engine and fuel injection (or some other "We havent got a clue" bullshit) then when they went to fit it a week later they 'found' a broken mount which had then gone on to damage oil lines etc - useless!

I even said the first time I took it in that it felt like a major misfire on one cylinder or an engine mount problem but I think unless their computer says they havent got a clue!

Is it a Coupé or a Roadster? Seemed to be a big thing in the US abuot 18months ago but only really seemed to affect Coupés which is why I never bothered to get mine checked.

andy ive had mine checked and their was no issue........ so lets see in the future as all our cars are pretty new still, as age and heat issues kick in im sure we'll see a few...
