Im pretty well known for breaking anything that moves and a number of inanimate objects also, that's not something I've managed, I've had bolts come loose and sheer, broken number of diffs, cracked brake discs - the list goes on. but never driveshafts.

Yeah - we were keeping on top of the pressures (dropping them to 29 all round at each check) but their limitations were around 2-3 laps of hard driving. Knockhill, whilst a small track, is very hard on brakes and tyres (front left mainly) due to the 2 big braking zones less than 30 seconds apart with no real bog speeds to cool them enough between, I think the brake heat compounds the issue too as all the heat spreads out into the wheels then eventually the tyres too.
Ive done a lot of Sprints and Hillclimbs, and id think they would be pretty well suited to the car over either (for the money)
I don't disagree with anything that's been said. I think the main point I was trying to make from the beginning is that car setup is very subjective, different drivers and able to drive different cars with varying confidence. On track I prefer to drive something with downforce and a road going track car something with a little bit more weight for stability. I prefer a GTR or Porsche for confidence rather than a high powered BMW/Corvette etc
I was just disagreeing to the point that a "lightweight weight car is going to be faster around a track". If I don't have confidence to push it as much as the heavier car it's quite unlikely it will, I've got personal experience of it being the opposite as I said we're not talking about seasoned race drivers.
In a similar vain; I prefer to play tennis with some lead on the handle for added stability, others prefer it in on the head for better swing weight. I wasn't disagreeing with anyone saying a Z4M could be fast car in their hands, they obviously prefer a more tail happy car than me. Horses for courses
P.S. Driveshaft ripped out of the diff a few years ago now. SMG E46 M3 with about 40k miles. Lots of drifting and warranty picked up the tab.
