The Alpina wing was on the car when I bought it. I originally didn't like it at all, and assumed I could get it off easily since there didn't appear to be any bolts. When I dropped it off for Ditec treatment, I asked them to take the wing off at the same time as the badges.

They said they had applied as much heat as they dared and couldn't get it off. I'm thinking floss might work with minimal paint damage as it appears to be attached only with double-sided adhesive, but at the same time it is growing on me. I wouldn't mind it much if it hadn't been for the fact that I feel the original rear shape is large part of the charm of the Z4.

What do you think, sort of cool or total disgrace?

I dont mind it, not too chavvy, but at the end of the day it's what you like, if you like it it's cool, if you dont then it isn't. Good luck with survey.

These are real hard to find
Get an alpina front on it (easy to find) and some alpina type wheels and you are there!

totally agree - which the wing ruins really ...which is such a shame. if it was easy to remove then I'd say defo do that, but what if it makes a mess of the paint etc when you do so :( :o

i guess you could go the other way with it like m44rrt suggested

Although I voted "Nay" as I prefer the original lines, I think the Alpina wing sticks out unfairly as there is nothing else on your car. If you add more kit to your car as m44rrt suggested, it may give a more balanced and pleasing look. Actually, I think if you put the hard top on your car, it would make the wing look like a much better suit.

Sorry but i dont agree! The car isn't an Alpina so I wouldn't add anymore parts. I quite like the spoiler though so if theres any risk of damage leave it on

It would cost you about £350 to buy one plus getting it painted and fitted so it's going to be quite unusual to see one fitted.
I personally think you modify a car to make it unique to you and on that basis, as it looks ok, I would keep it and do some more mods which would make the car your own

Not a fan but think you will do some damage trying to remove
Unfortunately I agree - can't see that being eay to remove without damaging the paintwork.

Shame it extends onto the tops of the rear wings otherwise a replacement bootlid would've done the job.

I'd fit some aero skirts and keep a look out for an aero front end to balance it.... mine came with a full aero kit which at first I wasn't sure about but now love .

All good points, thanks!

I agree it is unique, but really isn't a mod I would have chosen myself. I definitely won't be paying to add more matching bits to it, since I really like the stock look.

Tiny wheels, I know, they have the winter tyres on them. That is a whole different can of worms, I need a lot more information:

Long story short, this is what I believe will be going on in the not too distant future, hopefully combined with blue calipers.

nay- but bmw can get them off as the car I looked at before buying mine had this on and part of the deal was to have it removed if i bought it and they said it wasnt a prob!

I agree with the above. It makes the car look slughtly imbalanced and would look beter with the full kit.

Have you thought of keeping an eye on ebay for a replacement lid sans spoiler and then selling yours on? The wrong colour I know but judging on whats on there now you would be looking at £140ish.

You would get more than that in selling yours I reckon.

I voted no because I like the shortness of the rear end
but it must make the boot easier to open so I was tempted to vote yes on practicality
