Z4 will turn over but will not start

On my 05 Z4 it will turn over but will not start. The fuel gauge and the temperature gauge will not work but the dash lights up. I ran the scan tool and the DME module does not show up. When it will crank is when the gauges work, and the scan tool recognizes the DME module. Is it the DME module going bad or something else?

The gauge issue sounds like electrical gremlins

Any other issues recently?

Assume no issues with the starter motor?

It turns over fine.

Before buying new dme and spending on stuff maybe not needed, have a look at the dme- open it up and check connections- make sure no corrosion/water or rodent wire biting

Where you based? I have a spare dme for a 2.5 and software to unlink the ews?

You can check a couple of simple things.
Unplug the MAF and see if it starts.
Have you checked to see if you are getting fuel to the injectors?
What scan tool are you using?
Could be a crank or cam sensor problem.

The issue is tied in with the gauges not working. It will crank every time the gauges are reading and not crank every time they do not respond.
