Z4 VS G35

No im not talking racing, im talking as my new car. If you guys read my previous topic, it was me getting to test driving one of these bad boys. Now im just curious of the communities thoughts.
With the $14,000~ price range, automatics only, what do you guys think about comparing the two cars?

I look for...
-fun driving dynamics (good handling, can break rear trac predictably when wanted, not totally void of feeling, feels nice to drive)
-good sound (2.5 wasnt that impressive, havent driven 3.0 and not sure if the exhaust is different/louder? g35 sounds amazing)
-good looks (they both look great pretty equally)
-torque
-good speeds (g35 pulls hard as f**k, havent driven 3.0 z4)
-good automatic (cant remember if the G35 had 'sport shift' but it does have manual shiftability)
-cost of ownership (is the g35 cheaper overall? both seem to be the same reliability wise, but ive heard the G is hard to work on. also gets worse gas mileage than z4 so that sucks...)
-interior quality (bmw is okay, not amazing, same with the G.. maybe g slightly less due to build quality)
-insurance. (350z has high insurance, 3.0z4 doesnt, g35 i dont know off the top of my head. might be the same as z4?)
-good stereo (z4 premium sound system probably blows the g35's out of the water, not to mention replacing g35 head unit is a bitch and costs well over 200 dollars for basic replacement)
-smallness (the z is lighter and smaller but the g35 feels small inside which i like and doesnt feel as heavy as it is, so theyre both almost equal on this)

what i dont care about that much...
-i dont need a convertible (dont say get the roadster cause its a vert)
-i dont care for two extra seats in the back (dont say get the g if i need the space)
-i dont care for extra trunk room
-i dont care about ride quality (i currently drive an integra on coilovers with low profile tires)
-i dont care about manuals or clutch related issues or costs

Now ideally id want people who owned both/driven both/knowledgeable of both to reply and give their thoughts. Again ill note i dont care about manual transmission variants, because i have a disability and physically cannot drive manual. Thats why having a decent automatic is important to me.
Please post your thoughts/inputs/comparisons/experiences!!!

you wont get many replies from uk chaps about the g35 they are like hens teeth or rocking horse sh*t over here, look like the baby of a 350z and lexus sc430, horrid looking thing, but each to there own.

i mean, i think its kind of unfair to speak for everyone and say g35's are ugly as hell like that, many people think they look great and im sure someone on this forum does as well.. but im also curious in cost of ownership comparisons

Just shows I am really not much of a car freak. Didn't have a clue what a G35 was, had to look it up. Can't remember ever having seen one so I'm really no help at all. :o

If I am looking at the correct pics, I have to say it looks a bit bland but we all have different tastes which I can respect.

Most if not all the G35 that are in the UK are badged as the nissan skyline as that is what they are. Basically it's just the 350Z with some small tweets in terms of interior and shell. Otherwise everything else is the same. Infinity are trying to break the UK market at the moment and we have the G37 which is a lovely car to drive and be sat in. It's very much more Lexus feeling that nissan feeling.

As for your insurance I would expect to pay the same as the 350Z, in the UK the infinity commands the same insurance group as the 370z equivalent and I can understand why.

Two completely different cars to compare and I've never driven a E85. I've heard that there isn't too much you can do to up power wise on the G35's and the 350z's and being nissan everything seems to be a right pain in the ass to get to if you want to mod or fix something. The sound is lovely but for me personally I find the slope of the roof and hight of the windows doesn't lead for great visibility when pulling onto motorways (freeways) but I'm sure that's something you could get used to.

I've always liked the G35 as the skyline however I would personally have the 350Z over it but if it was a choice of the same car with a different badge for less money then I'd go G35 however it has started to date a bit but the 350Z still looks better

Just base an opinion that the US adored the SC430....but we thinks it's an awful car.....truly awful.

The G35 is not good sorry.....I don't think the Infinity brand cuts it in Europe. Just the way it is

Yep..We can't all agree. :) Love mine but I've always had a taste for oddball cars. Clarkson ain't got a clue.

Op. If it's based on the Nissan Skyline it's going to be a pretty decent car. I'd choose it over a 350z (and Z... runs for cover lol) just to be different.

Yes for those of you that cannot figure it out its a skyline in the UK i assume.... i personally dont like the new SC. I do love the skyline however...

G35 looks nothing like a skyline however.....it's Nissans take on an SC430.

I've been offered these G35 at Hertz and give them a wide birth in LA....curiously I opt for a Jag or a Q7.......

Had know idea what you were talking about with the G35. :?

Now I've looked it up, take the Zed.

I had a test drive in an auto Skyline 350GT (G35) before I bought the Z . It is one of the smoothest cars I have ever driven
I then read a long term test in one of the motoring mags where they averaged 17 (yes 17) miles per gallon over 18 months and that put an end to any thoughts of owning one

I think you'll find that in Japan the G35 is a Nissan Skyline and although rare there is a few kicking about the UK. It's been a skyline I've always liked and as my other half is the GTROC rep for Scotland and I've had to spend many a weekend in the company of this car. Infact there is a guy in Newcastle was a red one and it looks the biz.....not as nice as a R34 but still amazing.

We even have the history of Skylines on our wall. So here is the G35 Skyline.

Angies got it right lol

 Completely forgot that I was sat looking right at it. Skylines are my other halfs passion.

I think the G35 will pack a lot more oomph than the Z'd

A few mods here and there and its not so bad!g35.jpg

If I had to choose top fav cars its up there. (R35,370z,350z,G35) next cars going to be a 350 in a few months actually. And NO I am not a nissan fan boy! :x but to the OP, I can't speak but brother uswd to drive me to and from school.ride was nice and I liked the exhaust note. I remember a rock hit and cracked his sunroof and if I remember correctly it was estimated 2000 to replace it from the stealership I believe so I don't know for sure if all replacment parts are that expensive.
