z4 virgin - 2.5si roady purchased!

You're think coupe? Well, you're thinking wrong!

Roadster is the way to go.

Good luck with your search and don't forget that that a camera is the essential Zed accessory. :D

It's tricky but I think the coupe has the edge for my situation without having driven either. Reasoning:

1) less concern over parking outside in all weather;
2) better boot space;
3) I have never seen another one on the road, albeit I haven't been looking that long!;
4) for me, it's better looking.

I will test drive both and try a few versions to get a feel for what I want - not in a massive hurry and can't buy before my flat purchase has gone through and that's late September earliest.

Thanks again all for your invaluable advice. I'll try and put he obvious 'owner' bias to one side in each case!!!

Cheers guys.

(camera getting twitchy)

I'm completely biased but that bit has already been done!

Whichever you choose I hope you find one soon so we can have pictures - oh, and enjoy!

There is nothing to debate, Roadster rule. :D

you should on stage :rofl:

as a current owner of both i am the perfect person to judge without bias, without question the coupe is better - debate over cos i trump everybody :)
Honestly if you had to bin one which one would you keep.

If I couldn't have open top motoring I don't think I'd own a z4.

Took the plunge, went roady in the end! Had the top down today in pretty average weather and knew immediately it was the correct decision!

Right, done a bit more digging especially around potential insurance costs and i think i am steering towards a coupe, if i can get the right colour combo and interior.

I think given the fact i may be parking it outside (West London so not exactly the Bronx but its still not ideal) and for what i will be using it for, this makes the most sense. Plus, i think they are stunning to look at.

I have seen a few on here and i think the styling is absolutely spot on and you dont see too many of them around, unlike other german 2 seater coupes!

So - coupe specialists, anything i need to be conscious of / looking out for?

Coupe is the way to go - sold mine in Oct which was in West London. Look out for rear springs, water pump replacement, rust in the boot, foglights misted up, exhaust rattles (and other rattles), engine ticking (HVA issue). Other than that you'll love it!
