Z4 to be sold - Any advice?

Hello my fellow Z4 owners,

Over the past few weeks, I have decided to move in to the city centre of Edinburgh. Resulting in the train station being along the road. Unfortunately, this means my beautiful Z4 will now cover 100 miles a month which I don't feel justify the car or the money I pay for it. I have decided to sell but I am looking for advice from the fellow and more experienced members on here.

I have been on 4 valuation websites and all seem to average a private price of 24200. That's Caps, Glasses, What Car and Parkers guide price. I have decided to sell it a little under at £23995? Does that seem a good price for my car with only 6700 miles on the clock?

The other thing, I know that if I am going to sell, I am coming in to the right time of year to do it. I have this underlying thought I might have an issue selling it due to it being private and such a large amount of money, any thoughts?

Have you thought of selling back to BMW? might be worth enquiring, from looking at 2.0 at the dealers their prices are similar to what your asking so fair to say any buyers would feel safer going to a dealer than buying private. It shouldn't be like this as your Zed still has balance of warranty but if it were me I would probably do the same and buy AUC.

Tim.

Wait a month or so, we are still in the depths of winter in reality, clocks go back, spring arrives and a Z seems like a great idea. Spring is the time to buy a convertible. If time isn't too much of an issue, I'd try privately but with the back up of knowing what a dealer would pay you. (I'd sit down before being told tho!)

Afraid to say Tim think that your price is a little high for a private sale I could have bought two cars last week 62plate Dec registered 20mls on clock for £22850 they both had 19s comfort pack conectivity and there are still cars outthere for that price if you look hard most people would rather go to a dealer when talking that kind of money :(

Sorry Tim wrong name glad your hanging on to yours should have put Keith

I probably do less mileage than Keith but wouldn't sell :driving:

I would top myself first before using public transport :)

Looking in and around 23k I suspect Kev. Had an offer similar to webuyanycar for 21k, rule of thumb for them is they offer 15-20 percent below what is an average trade in

Depending on the type of finance, top line cost and balance outstanding there is a 1/3 & 1/2 figures which may enable you to simply hand the car back. Painfull but may end up the cheapest route. With the dealers offering massive discounts at the moment, buying used doesn't seem attractive on such a late vehicle, unless of course it's exactly the spec you want IMO

I have a 2.0 Msport Auto 2012 with less than 4k miles.
We buy online value is 17.5k
Recent trade in offers - 18.5k to 21k
If you get 23k+ then please let me know.

I have been looking at the cars on Autotrader and can't find many if any matching my spec. A lot come with the standard optional extras of 19s, comfort pack and seat heating. I can't find any that come with the BMW Loudspeaker, Wind deflector, Extended lighting, folding mirrors, etc. plus the servicing pack on the car.

It depends if I get some interested in actually having a good sound system in the car haha! I also see 2011 23i priced a bit higher which seems madness. The prices are all over the place. A very similar car to mine in a dealer in Aberdeen is priced around the £25k mark!

As said above, I really can't see why anyone would buy privately from you with that mileage on the car when they can walk into a dealers, buy a 62 plate with 4 miles on it and have all of the options like finance etc available to them. It just doesn't seem worth it.

I just bought a pre-registered 62 plate 28i with all the options you have listed (save for the loud speaker and folding mirrors) and 5 miles on it for £23,500.

Good luck with the sale though. I hope you manage it.

Oh PS

Sorry Carol,

TitanTim, funnily enough, considered the Z3 to replace the Z4!

Z3s are currently a bargain and 7k will bag a decent M. Rest of the range are much cheaper now.

Love mine and even with Mtec sports suspension is like a Rolls Royce compared to the Z4 for ride quality.

After several iterations of the Z4 and several years of development by some very qualified BMW engineers - you say they've made it worse????? :?
