Z4 single trip breakdown cover

Hi..just signed up to the forum as recommended having purchased a 2003 Z4 2.5 Convertible 10 months ago.
I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on the following....
I'm planning on taking the car over to France for a short 4 day trip in a couple of weeks time but having real trouble finding a company that will provide 'single trip' breakdown cover. Main issue seems to be the age of the car !!
Any ideas would be most welcome.
Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Don’t forget we like a proper introduction and pictures (of the car, obvs).

My bank (Barclays) offers a “travel pack” - combined travel insurance and comprehensive breakdown cover. It’s not a single trip policy, but there is no minimum term, so you could get it for just a month. The cost is about £16. I don’t recall whether it covers international breakdown, but it’s worth investigating if your bank offers anything similar.

Thanks for that. I'm with Barclays so will check it out.
I will update the profile with details & pics...just wanted to get this question out there as my trip is imminent and was surprised that I couldn't find anyone willing to cover it !
Cheers .

FWIW, I recommended [ref]BQEZ4[/ref] to the forum when he asked me, as I have no experience of driving in France in a zed.
I did also suggest that there may be members of this forum living out there who would be willing to lend a hand should anything go wrong.

Hi and welcome to the forum with your lovely Z4.

I don't think AA or RAC have age limits, but I've no idea if they do stand-alone European cover. But if you are with them they will add European cover, so worst case scenario might be to join and add EU cover!

These are the annual/fortnight Zone 2 Europe quotes I’ve just got for my 2006 ZMC.

If I try ‘personal cover’ the T&Cs exclude cars over 16 years old anyway, and standalone ones at other companies also seem to top out at 16.

Hi and thanks to all who sent advice. I've since discovered that I can get annual breakdown cover (including europe) directly from BMW with no age restriction on the car, for £156.
Just wondered if anyone else has ever used this service and was it a good service ?
Thanks.

Given how much standalone breakdown policies cost, it's better value to sign up for a Virgin Money Club M bank account (£150/year) or Nationwide FlexPlus (£216/year). Both bank accounts include UK and Europe breakdown including recovery for the account holder (so any car you're driving is covered), plus other benefits such as worldwide travel insurance and gadget insurance for the account holder's family.

Virgin Money's breakdown is provided by Green Flag, and Nationwide's by AA. No restrictions on the types of cars covered.

Also be aware that some companies (RAC being one i think) wont recover you after an accident. Its worth having cover in the UK as well though not only because you don't have a spare tyre on your car. I'm with the AA on my twenty year old Z4. I get discount codes to use at various places (15% off pub grub for example) so its not bad.

Thanks for that. Was wondering about the 'no spare tyre' issue.
I'm new to BMW's so the Z4 is my first !
Don't think I've ever owned a car without either a full size or an emergency spare before :o

I think the Z4 was BMWs first experiment with run-flat tyres which is why there was no spare.
