Z4 roof switch failure

Hello!

One of the roof switches has failed in my z4, located via the panel in the boot. Any ideas how long this could take to fix or is it more hassle than it's worth and should I get BMW to fix it?

They have quoted my 6 hours labour

2 microswitches cost about 40€ and it takes up to 2 hours on the first attempt, 1,5h on the next attempt!

As said, microswitches are around £16 each (probably more now) and the job is really easy as long as you follow some simple rules which can be found on here. There is almost a step by step guide on one thread here.

Always best to change both sides together.

I did it in about 3 hours and I am clueless! :)

I paid £220 (or my warranty company did) that included the switch / diagnostics & labour.

If you don't want to change them yourself, find a decent Indie who will do it much cheaper, BMW are just ripping you off with 6 hours labour

Thanks all for your help! I'll get a couple of switches on order!

6 hours seemed very long for one switch
You should replace them on both sides due to their aging.
