Hi all I am new to this site. I have a 04 plate z 4 2.2 which I have owned for 3 years. The car has recently developed a problem with the remote central locking. I am unable to unlock the drivers side door using the remote key, it unlocks if I do it manually. However it locks using the remote very puzzling. The passenger door locks and unlocks ok with the remote. Has anyone got any ideas ???

Search gm5 module
It's probably one of the relays in the mod , you'll be able to find links on the forum to repairers

If your new to the forum, it would be nice to see your Zed and a bit of history about it. This is a very helpful site and you will get plenty from it.
Why not introduce yourself in the newbie section, oh and don't forget the photos...we love photos

Sorry, I can't offer any help with your problem, but welcome anyway.

Yes, GM5 module is the usual culprit. I run an electronics engineering firm and can repair for you. Although if you have a good soldering iron you can probably do yourself. Lots of info in here.

PM me if you need details.

I also have a 04 Z4, 3.0i and I had the same problem. As mentioned it can be 1. module with faulty relay which can be fixed (it can be sent away and repaired for around $100 in USA or maybe you can do it yourself) 2. Drivers side door actuator which you may be able to fix yourself - you can get a new actuator for $ 60 to 80. on Ebay or other site. 3. In my case it was simply a loose electrical connector in the door. I got mixed advice on what to do so I first sent my module off and after testing found it was fine and they didn't charge anything. Secondly I bought a door actuator and actually had a very honest garage take the door apart and immediately found a loose connector. I was told that if its the module that you would normally see problems with both doors etc. versus just the drivers door.
