I'm looking at carrying out the following to my better looking half's 2.0 Z4;
1.) Wheel refurb
2.) Caliper and wheel hub refurb/painting
3.) Replace Front O'S Wing & Headlight Unit
4.) Refresh paintwork - multiple scratches & scuffs
5.) Driver side arm rest/door card swap
6.) Get cracked manifold welded
7.) Refurb/replace rear exhaust tailpipe tips
8.) New gearknob & pedals to freshen up the interior
9.) Oil Service
I have a few questions on the above that hopefully you can help with;
3.) The car has taken a knock on the OS front wing, causing a creaseline on the arch and pushing the nose of the wing further in towards the engine bay. It's only slight, but it has caused one of the headlight unit fixings tabs to snap. I reckon on replacing the entire wing with a used panel, this is due to the damage and it probably being very difficlut for a pnale beater to realign so all the panel gaps etc are even (the rest of the car needs paint repairs so spraying not so much of an issue).
Regarding the headlight unit, how can I idantify what type of hedlights they are? It's a 55 Plate Sport and has the amber indicators. How can I tell if they're Xenon? Is it possible to replace the broken fixing tab (plastic welding maybe)? How much would 2nd hand headlamp unit be?
5.) Does the arm rest section of the door card detach seperately or is it integrated into the door card? There are some cigarette burns from the previous owner.
6.) Cracked manifold. I noticed this when listening to the car the other day. My girlfriend mentioned that the garage noticed this on the last visit and said it may be weldable, but not to worry as it wouldn't effect the MOT? Surely a cracked manifold will effect sound levels and emissions. Is there a weakpoint in the system and a most likley location of the crack? Can these be welded? Is there a short term repair option to reduce the noise until a more permanent fix?
7.) Exhaust pipe tip. Currently it has the singe oval tip. It's slightly corroded. Any options for cleaning this? Can the tail pipe tip be replaced easily or even changed for a dual tip?
