Z4 Rear Speakers size

I've got a 2009 Z4 3.0i and have quickly realised the standard head unit & rear speakers are very low power, so I've had the head unit changed to a decent Pioneer 4 x 50w by my local car audio centre, and a seperate subwoofer installed, but I'm struggling to get decent rear speakers that fit the speaker space.

The shop has just fitted some Alpine SXE-1025S but these distort when I crank the volume to about 80% and when I complained I was told the speaker space is limited so it would be hard to find more powerful speakers that would fit! :headbang:

Any ideas please? :driving:

Hi and welcome

Think there could be a few options, depending how keen you are at DIY, have a search there are at least two e89 owners that have written fairly detailed explanations of their modified set up. The next speaker upgrade on the options list has two larger speakers directly behind each seat (6" I think), and this may be the best way forward as there is space behind them.

As this is your first post, you might want to say hi in the newbie section and post some pictures of your new car, would be interested to see some photos of the installed Pioneer head unit

Hi

I have a 2011 Z4 Sdrive35is  put unfortunately the local dealer didn't provide it with two important option, one of them is the Harman Kardon Sound System :( the other one is the free access which i don't think that i'll use it anyway but it was going to be great to have it !!

my question is: since the local dealer has no idea about upgrading the sound system, what is your advice? I've contacted Harman Kardon but no reply.. I don't want to install a sound system that ruins the interior of the car, got me?

thank you
