Been for new Tyres on the rear this morning before my Drive down to Silverstone tomorrow for the F1 weekend...
When the car was up on the ramp i asked if they could have a look at the heatshield to see if i have an issue because i've had a rattle between 2500 RPM and 3000 RPM, i read on here many users talking about the cat heatsheild making a similar noise.
The mechanic took me through to show me what had happened.

The bracket which attaches to the Gear box and then loops around the exhaust near the front had completely sheered in half !!!
The end piece is left rattling around causing the noise i've had, not sure if anyone else has had this but it was worrying to look at the bracket cut clean in half O.O
bracket is £23.00 from BMW and they didn't charge me to replace it while it was in, quick fix to a very annoying noise.
