Just been offered a good deal on Groupon for a 30x20" canvas/vinyl poster. So thought I'd better look through my photos for something suitable to go on the wall.

Had a play in Photoshop and thought I'd do a Warhol poster, but then realised a simple 'poster edges' effect worked well on one of my 'Ring pictures, so will probably be going with that one.

What do you think? Good, bad, ugly?

I really like the pic and reckon blown up on canvas it would look great!

+1
I think the photo would look waaaay better on the wall then the poster-style photoshop postprocessed thing 8)

Just a personal thing but I just don't like the composition. Especially the way just a tiny piece of the car is off the edge of the picture...its just enough to be annoying as opposed to artistic.

Car needed to be a bit further to the left with some air between the front wing and edge of picture. As it stands, my eye is spending too much time on the r/h side of the picture. Maybe if you cropped some of the greenery out and filled the frame a litle more?

Sorry to sound critical and I know you have much better pictures you could use?

I was intentionally trying to throw the eye off, but also played with some of the other shots with more 'space' in them, although still r/h biased.

I like that.

Would there be any way you could black over the yellow licence plate block?
Of course, it's just a matter of moments in photoshop to do it.

Nice one. Personally, I think the composition is about right. If the photo was cropped you would lose the track meandering away to the left (which - to me - captures the essence of The Ring).

I agree, it's very distracting. The picture looks like it needs to be a wider format.

The photoshop effects are nice, but they're no substitute for a proper artists impression.

I think that last image of the front of the car is much more interesting, the red and white curbs lead the eye nicely to the car, there's too many colour bands on the car though.

Didn't realise you had the wider shot.....looks much better, although I'd maybe crop it slightly tighter to the right and below...although Herminators crop also shows more road and less greenery which I like too.

I like the shot with the vehicle coming in from the right too.....I know one can be arty farty about these things but traditional wisdom says that when you photograph a moving object its best to have it entering the frame rather than leaving it, i.e. leave a space that its about to speed into. And moving left to right is more natural for most of us.....

So if you use the fuller frame one, I like Herminators, perhaps with the car down and right a little bit

I prefer it cropped something like this.
Funny you should mention that, as my original preferences was one with a 2:1 ratio, but there's a premium to pay for anything other than 3:2 ratio.

So I could do it with a black border, or do it motivation poster style with some text below it.

Alternatively I could do a Warhol-inspired one...

Personally I like the artistic with the blacked out lic plate. Of course, now if you could make it a convertible.. :D :D

Always like this effect myself, a kind of desaturated-with-heavy-black look, think it stops a regular photo from ageing.
