Z4 no bike rack / bike in boot

Thanks to a11y (& PDJ more recently) who posted this many years ago, I haven't got a bike rack so I'm going to see if I can fit a dismantled mountain bike in the back of my roadster.
I'm sure it can be done, only stem, bars, forks and wheels need to come off and some protective material for any sharp metal edges. Will report findings back here soon...

Good effort. But rather you than me putting those feet resting on the middle of the rear window - I know glass is stronger in the middle (compared to the edges) but I'd still be concerned with the amount of pressure being put onto the glass by those feet. How I'm wrong though.

Slight update to this thread of my own - one MTB in the boot of a Roadster:

It involves unbolting the stem and removing the forks from the head-tube, but it all fits no probs and more importantly I can still lower the roof too. Not as much hassle as I first thought - removing the forks is a 2 min job.

Wheels off, seat post out, handle bars off and forks out; road bikes fit no problem - not tried my downhill or enduro bike but i think they'd be a squeeze. Parking for MTBs can sometimes be a bit off the beaten track and the ground clearance on the Z isn't huge either.

Folding bike no problem at all!
Although wouldn't want to go off road on it.

Doddle to mount/use/stash in car.
