Z4 No Air Conditioning

Hi

Brought a 2006 Z4 2.0 a few weeks ago. It's been a great project so far with so much help from this forum with cruise control mod, new stereo etc - thanks all so much.

The last major problem is that I have no air conditioning. I had the system regassed two days ago, and they said that there was no leak (or at least no major leak!).

I am waiting to have it taken into another garage next week, but in the meantime I got a cable and plugged into INPA.

It seems that the system is not pressurising - have attached two screenshots. The system pressure is 2.7 bar with the system off, and then rises to 3.3 with the A/C button on. When the compressor is turned on, there does seem to be a higher load on the engine, and I can hear something spinning.

Any further troubleshooting steps would be amazing, as I'd be really happy if I can fix it as cheaply as possible!

Welcome on board. :) Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than myself can help with your air con. :)

So, having taken it to a well known blue and yellow garage chain to have it regassed with no luck as above, I found a specialist air con garage.

They took it in, checked over and re-gassed again, and the air-con has been perfect ever since. Pressure reading in INPA is now comfortably between 11-12 bar when the compressor is engaged.

The learning point, then, is that said Blue and Yellow garage may not offer the best expertise. In their defence, they did give me a refund!

Sounds like operator or machine error from the Blue& Yellow outfit, which comes as no surprize. Personally I had my Z4 regassed at ATS Euromaster using a Groupon discount coupon, waited with the car whilst it was done and to be honest apart from plugging the hoses into the car and pressing a few buttons on the machine the guy doing it didn't have much to do, the machine did it all. He did comment that mine had pressure in the system when he plugged the hoses on the valves so looked ok to proceed with the service on the machine.
