Z4 making-of documentary on nat geo HD?

Caught the hour long "mega factories: BMW" documentary thingy on Nat Geo HD earlier. It was the Spartanberg factories Z4 production line, cracking bit of telly. It showed the production of the earlier Z4s right from start to finish. Anyone else catch it?

sure did, it was cool to see how they are put together from start to finish, plus mine is an 03 model so it felt very relevant to watch. (if only i had some of those toys in my garage)

I've seen it a couple times. I've also been able to tour the factory 3 or 4 times. As fascinating as it is on TV, it's nothing like being there dodging sparks from the welders and seeing just how *clean* everything is.

Downloaded last night and watched this morning on the way to work. Other than the slightly irritating narration its pretty good; especially the part about ostrich feathers.

They've now added X5M, X6M and the X3 assembly line should be running well by now. Just wish they would hire someone who really knew BMWs to give the tour rather than the folks they hire. I went down just as the X5M and X6M were to be announced. I asked if they were there, they couldn't say, but I saw a few on the line. They also didn't know if the cars used all synthetic oil. :roll:
