Z4 interior boot release

Hi I am a newbie here and hopefully I am not covering old ground(have done some searching to no avail).

Yesterday morning I collected my 03 Z4 3.0 :D and have discovered that the internal boot release switch doesn't do anything, I can open the boot via the remote on the key and manually from the lock on the boot. I have read that there is some kind of valet mode but for the life of me I can't work out how to disable this mode, I was handed three keys with the car - 2 remote and 1 that doesn't fit into the boot lock and doesn't have any remote functions.

I really hope someone can help, this isn't a major issue but is a little annoying.

Well, the Owner's Manual says : "If the luggage compartment lid has not been locked separately, you can open it with this button in the footwell on the driver's side when the vehicle is stationary." What it doesn't seem to say is how you lock the luggage compartment separately!

From your description is sounds as if you either have a defective boot switch, or the wiring has become disconnected, or there's a fuse blown. The fact that you can remotely unlock with the key suggests that all is OK at the lock end of things.
