Z4 headlight question (purchasing from dealer)

Hi

I have done a quick search but did not find the answers I was looking for. I currently have the oem zenon headlights with the amber indicators. I am looking at purchasing a set of clears from an 05 (latest pre facelift) from the dealers.

My questions are:

1) whether it is possible or rather, feasible to purchase a set of clear halogen headlight and then purchase a plug and play HID kit (e.g MTEC) separately. Would there be re-wiring involved to go from zenon to halogen?

2) whether it is possible to purchase a set of clear halogen headlight and use my existing zenon unit, wiring, ballasts and bulbs? Similarly, would there be re-wiring involved?

3) if I do end up purchasing the zenons, would it be a simple plug and play to my zenons (i.e. no need to rewiring/splice anything)?

Just weighing in my options as the zenons cost roughly double the halogens over here. I have also been looking at ebay but many sellers assume that the headlights fit all years of the z4.

1) Only if the dealer recodes your xenon LCM back to halogen. Never heard of anyone doing it before. Won't work otherwise.

2) No as the inners and internal wiring loom are different. Will never work

3) Yes if you swap pre facelift xenon to xenon it's a direct swap. Post facelift will not work in a prefacelift.
