Z4 had to go

I have finally got fed up with things going wrong all the time (and 23 MPG) so the Z has gone

I think that in 3 years of ownership the airbag light has been on more than off and various faults have been rectified . Most recently water had got into a module because of a blocked roof drain (although I checked them regularly), which cost over £600 with the MOT , I was then waiting for the roof motor to fail because of the blocked drain.
To top it off the light came back on 3 weeks later which was diagnosed as the passenger seat sensor so I just had it reset and didn't carry any passengers before part exchanging it
It also needed new rims as 2 of the 108's were buckled and I may be being paranoid but I'm sure the steering was starting to stick. It has also had the usual suspension bush and brake pipe problems

So after losing any love I ever had for the car, even to the point of not bothering to wash it anymore I have a new love in my life

Probably not to everyone's taste but I now have a SLK250 CDI AMG sport (and it's auto) - Not as quick as the Z at low speeds but with 204 BHP and 500NM of torque it rips your arms off in the midrange and averages 55MPG

I have never contributed much to this forum but have always followed it and probably still will

Always good to cut your losses. You would never like the car so better without it.

The weird thing is, the next owner will probably enjoy trouble free motoring with it the rest of its life!

Presumably the SLK was big step up in budget though?

very neat enjoy it  ...

Swiftly really .... you' ll end up at the back on Forum runs with myself and Jax ....

Hard when you fall out of love with it - very understandable! When i was younger i had a car that constantly cost me the earth and it's not a nice thing. You'll be pleased to know Merc are now one of the most unreliable brands :poke:

Saying that, half of my mates own BMW's and we've all paid stupid money in repairs for them.

That is what I was thinking .. I would be interested to know how much it works out at as I like the looks :)

i see zero appeal or desire in the square fronted SLKs :o Much preferred the previous model
