Z4 got struck/hit :(

Hi guys,

I'm so pissed off today; my car got hit while it was parked on the street. A lady with her Dodge caravan was trying to park beside mine on the street and it hit mine on the driver side fender and bumper. It's really in bad shape now. I had just cleaned it today morning for around 1 hour. Really sad.

How much does a fender and bumper cost?
Do you know if I would able to find the same exact color?

Ouch that looks nasty. That's a very popular colour so your chances on eBay / breakers may be good, the bumper looks like a new bracket and paint should be good to go.
Luckily it missed the headlight.

I guess by the yellow reflector and lack of steering wheel in the photo that you're in the US

I think the majority of members on here are in the UK so the advise about breakers may not hold true for you - having said that the car was built in the US and a lot of units sold there.

If your car was not moving I would have thought that your insurance company was a good place to start - its not your fault

As above, is she insured. Lucky you had finished cleaning it or you could have been crushed. Sounds like she needs a slap

Ouch :o at least you know who did it, has she admitted responsibility?

Yeah; she did. She called the police. Not many do that & I respect her for that.
I wasn't there when the car was hit. I was at a cafe nearby using my laptop. But I got a notification on my phone that there was movement on my vehicle (I have a gps tacker with motion sensor on my car). I came back to see what was happening and saw the lady and the police nearby my vehicle. I have to talk with her insurance company and see what can be done. I would probably buy a new fender and bumper as well.

Yes; I'm in US, New Jersey.
No, my car was parked beside the road. I wasn't even near by the car. I was away but I knew my car was shaken (got notification on my phone).

If you get stuck with the bill it may just require a wing looking at the photo. The bumper itself looks fine, other than a few scratches. The bracket that attaches the wing to the bumper may be damaged but that's not that expensive (cica £25 over here). The wing is bolt on so if you can source one in the right colour it may turn out to be a relatively easy/cheap fix with just some paint on the bumper.

If she has admitted liability and you've contacted her insurance company, you should IMHO leave it to the insurers to source the parts and effect the repair. It would have to be done in accordance with the agreed standards so I would imagine that the wing and bumper would be replaced as a matter of course. It looks like a Sterling Grau so there should be plenty of s/hand replacements available. Secondhand may give you a better paint match than respraying the affected areas if replaced by new or primed units and then painted. Good luck with it!

Sorry to read of your pain OP. :(

I just hope you get it sorted painlessly and at her insurer's expense.

There's plenty of parts on https://www.ebay.com/

Put in the car details and see what there is for sale.

Craiglist has some parts too.

There are also BMW suppliers in New Jersey you can find on the Google.

With a bit of luck and decent bodyshop will be able to mend the bend on the fender (whatever that is) and touch up the bumper.

Ouch that's a sad sight. Sounds like you got hit by an honest individual. So hopefully it will be sorted amacubly.
