Z4 Essentials?

Hello Guys,

I've just bought a BMW 2.0i Sport.

After previously owning a 16 year old Citreon which I treated like crap purely because it was my first car and I knew I was going to rag it, I need your help on the best items for a 2.0 Z4 such as the best:

Engine Oil
Coolant
Brake Fluid

And also items like waxes to buff and also materials to clean the fabric hood :)

Hopefully some of you enthusiasts can help me because I really want to treat this car like the wife I've never had haha

Are you planning on doing your own oil changes? Or buying it and having someone do them for you?

This will be controversial - I'd rather see cheap synthetic oil that meets the spec being changed more frequently (<8k or 6 months) than branded changed at the intervals. Gold standard is proper synthetic changed frequently - there's a lot of personal opinions on brands and plenty of data to trawl through.

Use BMW coolant only - £10 for 1.5 litres that dilutes to 3 from your local dealer.

Are you going to track your car?
If not then any old brake fluid will do! I change mine every year rather than every 2 years.

Autoglym do a kit of the roof which isn't bad.

Welcome to the forum, you will find that once you have posted some pics of your new motor the advice will come flooding in

Welcome!

Finding the right wax is an absolute minefield.

I'm getting near the end of my tin of Meguiars #16 and once again, am completely confused in which direction I'm going with the replacement wax.

For wax you cant go wrong with fk1000p for durability, then with a show wax fir better gloss.

Bare in mind, gloss starts at the paint so if you have clean uncontaminated paint polished then not only will the wax bond better, you will achieve a smoother gloss.

Currently i use csp wax which is very durable and brings the paint put very well, then a show wax on top
