Z4 e89 speaker issue

Hi guys, new to the forum.

Recently bought an e89 z4 2014, after buying noticed passenger door speaker had a crackle, replaced speaker and noise went away, 1 month later and noise is back. Also noticed when radio is off and accelerating you can hear a crackle? Any ideas? Possible its the loom?

I had this too but in a different speaker - through a process of elimination discovered it was caused by a cheap cigarette usb plug in power point. It was in the armrest so hadn’t crossed my mind but as soon as I swapped it out for a higher quality one it stopped.

No idea if you’ve got the same issue or why it stopped by changing them out ......... but it did

What engine is fitted?

Well you have, most likley the BMW Active Sound Design unit fitted, which means even with the radio off, the ASD DSP/amp is running and injecting psuedo engine noises into the speakers..

Therefore if as another post suggests you have interference caused by breakthrough from a rogue device (USB charger) that would be heard even with the radio off!

I have no devices attached but now you mention it the usb port in the centre console can be intermittent when connecting phone to it?

Well the connectors are well made and so I can't see a loose connection as being particularly valid.

A loose /rattley speaker is possible but you would have tightened up the new speaker.

Unusal to blow up a speaker with a stock system.

So interference in that channel from elsewhere..does it matter what you operate? radio/cd/usb?

Is the crackle volume dependent.speed dependent, RPM dependent?

Does it with everything, and when accelerating no matter what rpm etc...

Do you have a sound file /video of the noise?
