Z4 E89 service manual and coding

So I've just got a 2009 E89 Z4 3.0i sdrive. And loving it!

I was brought up on Haynes manuals so disappointed to see there isn't one for this car. So, can anyone recommend a decent service manual. I've seen a few downloadable ones on ebay but hard to know what they are like without actually buying. I don't want a 2000 page book of massively technical info. But do want something to find out how things come apart etc if needed. Any suggestions or anyone got a pdf they can let me have?

And on a second note. I'm looking at getting something for diagnostics/coding of simple options. I can find K DCAN cables on ebay teamed with a huge range of software. Googling it is getting very confusing! If I want something to do basic diagnostics and coding of options etc in a reasonably simple package without needing to read German or having a degree in software design what do poeple recommend?

Thanks for your help...

With regards to Diagnostics and Coding, if you get yourself a K DCAN cable off ebay you can download INPA and all the other BMW software for free in one simple easy to install by following the DOWNLOAD link in the first post of this thread:

I've no idea if it works with the E89 or even E85/86 though.

Great bit of software, that's the one I use, and yes it works perfectly with my e89

That software looks ideal - unfortunately I've been unable to install it on my Win 10 64 bit machine. It tells me it needs Microsoft Net 3.5 installed on the machine, but I already have Net 4.61 installed and it won't let me install.... Any work arounds known?

Alas I'm currently at work so don't have access to mine, but I run it on my 32bit netbook (which is just about powerful enough to run it, all be it a little slowly but it works) and it is fully up to date, so I will check to see what version of .net it has installed.

You can have .NET 3 and 4 installed at the same time.

Download and install from here; https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=21
