Z4 E86 Z4 3.0si Control unit box: e-box fan

Hi,
need some assistance in finding an e-box fan, looking at realoem the p/n is 12901745182. The one in my 07 Z4 Coupe has failed as per an error when interrogating the fault codes, error does not cause any interference with warning lights etc. on dashboard, but it obviously is there to keep the ECU cool, dont think its an issue at the moment but can see it being an issue in summer (Assuming we get a hot summer).

Anybody ever replace this unit? all the obvious places I have looked into show out of stock, trying to find one from breakers yard, but i havent reached out to a BMW dealership as yet (which will be my fall back plan). The motor is about £120'ish from the sites that stock it (but showing out of stock).

Any ideas or assistance would be appreciated.

I have that same issue, getting a code that reads “e-box fan activate” from my Foxwell, I don’t recall the number at the moment. Found this on Pelican Parts https://www.pelicanparts.com/techar...an_Replacing/131-ELEC-E-Box_Fan_Replacing.htm

The article says it is up to 2006 so I don’t know if yours is similar being an 07.

I’m hoping that the fix is as easy as the sensor, which appears to be located in the e-box but I haven’t seen a photo just an illustrated parts breakdown that shows it as part of the e-box assembly. If the fan needs replacing, it looks like an easy fix.
