Z4 Coupe Oil Serive - Dealer Price?

Hi, just contacted my local BMW for a Oil service price. Car is 2007 with 43,000 miles and Service due in 1,600 but I would like it done early.

The first price they give over the phone was £235 and I mentioned it was over 4 years old and she said best price is £218.

Just wondering how this compares to other BMW prices?

I would like to keep full BMW Serive history as the car is in mint condition and think the BMW service history would compliment the car come sale time?

I recently went to get mine priced up on my 2005 2.0i as mine is also due in about 1.6k, they quoted me £215. Not sure if I will get it done at the dealer's though, as I plan to keep the car for at least another 2 years, at which point it will be 10 years old, so not sure how much difference to a sale a full BMW history ( which it has had up to now ) will make.

P.s. forgot, mine is the soft top version not the coupe. Not sure if this makes a difference.
 
Buy you own oil and they should do it for around £100. Oil should cost you say £50ish so £150 all in

As above, if you buy your own oil then you save a fortune.

If you cant be bothered doing that check http://www.maindealerdiscount.com/ and see if they will match.

£218 (Inc Microfilter) sounds about right

What's people general opinion about keeping main dealer Service history?

A local BMW specialist has quoted £132 for oil Service, £198 with brake fluid change

You should be able to get near that through a main dealer . Just got talk to the service manager in the right fashion :wink:
IMO a decent indy should do oil & filter + brake fluid for £150ish

I'd say its not worth losing FSH for a cheep oil service. If it was an inspection then I'd possible consider it.

You'd still have full FSH just not a dealer one - not sure how much people care about it being dealer or not or how much it puts on resale value when it comes to old(ish) cars.

Thanks for the advice guys. Still unsure what to do! Ill call and barter with the bmw specialist for a better price on the brake fluid, oil and filter and the air filter (can't believe its not part of the service).

I'd sooner have an indy oil service than an indy inspection 1 or 2. But then again, I'd be happy buying a 6 year old Coupe that had obviously been looked after with a service book stamped by main or indy. There's too much faith put on main dealers when in reality you may have a 19 yr old £6 an hour kid doing the work, signed off by someone on £9 ph and they then charge £75 ph Ridiculous
 
Got a price for an oil change for £137 for my M today. It's not a service, just an oil & Filter change as I don't want the oil in for 2 years.

I had to ask to get the 6 plus discount which dropped it a fair bit!

I was chatting recently with my indy Re dealer servicing/diagnostics etc , He left Bowker's due to a time orientated work system .
The juniors do the basics / oil change ,brake pads etc whilst the seniors did the diagnostic & unscheduled repairs .
All work was allocated via jobsheets that were in minutes . A basic oil & filter was 18mins total & that included finding the car , getting it into service bay ,doing the job & replacing car in the car park :cry:
Part of the reason he went solo & all of the reason i avoid main dealers :thumbsdown:
 
On a 6+ year old car, unless you still have a warranty, I'd suggest trying to maintain a full BMW service history is a waste of money. As said, as long as the service history is correct and the work is done at a specialist as opposed to Kwik Fit then IMO it's fine. May vary that opinion for an ///M, but I don't have one and my local Indy is very, very good anyway.
 
The only reason why i want to keep FSH with the dealers is the fact you can be considered for goodwill gestures if something unexpected and expensive turns up as I didn't extend my warranty.

Bit the bullet today and got it serviced at the BMW main dealer!

£270 oil service with micro filter and brake fluid change. Told them not to clean it..Trust no one with my car.. Haha

The service manager commented how nice and clean the car stating it needs nothing 8)
