Z4 Coupe - Intermittent electric window problem.

Hi All - glad to be here - I suspect I may be a regular visitor!

My Z4 Coupe (bought last year) has an intermittent problem with the driver's electric window - it sometimes winds down and sometimes doesn't.

Maybe coincidence (the nature of intermittent problems) but twiddling the mirror switch seems to bring it back to life.

I'm no mechanic, but this seems to suggest that the switch is at fault.

I'd welcome thoughts and ideas, with an indication of how easy/difficult it is to access the switch?

Welcome aboard.
Sounds like an issue with the switch for sure.
Dead easy to swap the switch, get a trim tool under the front edge (not the very front though, or you may snap the trim). Prise it up gently and eventually you'll be able to lift it out.
Two plugs underneath. The bigger one has a kind of lever you have to push over to free it.
Honestly, I think you're best just to swap the switch over, though you could try cleaning the contacts, but be warned, if you open the switch up bits go everywhere!

Easy to source a spare if you don't have folding mirrors. A lot more pricey if you do.

The trim piece on top clips off too, so you can buy any colour switch and swap your trim over.

Make sure your new switch operates the mirrors properly as more often it's that rocker switch that fails first.

I don't have a spare but do have a project car you could borrow one from to check it is your problem.

Back again

So far so good - got replacement switch.

Removed old one and swapped covers.

Now ready to re-install, and tips on how to re-connect, specifically regarding the stage 'wheel' device in the switch?
